Quality was the order of the day in Castleisland, where the South West Limousin Club’s annual show and sale saw a blistering trade for dairy-cross calves, headlined by a standout March-born bull calf hitting €1,100. This calf was the property of Sean Cronin from Brosna. This smashing calf was sired by Castleview Gazelle (ZAG) and out of a FR cow.

The first prize winning heifer also breached the one thousand euro mark when she was knocked down for €1,010. This smashing lady is out of a Rotbunte cow and sired by Castleview Casino. Born in early March she was presented by Martin O’Mahony, Camp. This heifer was also awarded a prize from the mart for being the top priced animal per kilo.

The second prize winning bull was from John Cronin, Killarney. This prize winner was born in March and sold for €850, his dam is a FR cow.

The second prize winning heifer was from Sean Cronin. This heifer was born on the 1st of March. She sold for €1,000.

The third prize winning bull came form John Doran from Asdee. This young calf was born on the 8th of March. He sold for €880. His sire is Shannon Samurai.

Third prize in the heifers went to John Cronin for his March born heifer. She sold with two comrades for €520.
