The North West Club held an Elite Heifer sale on Monday the 4th of December in Elphin Mart. A clearance rate of 88% was met in what proved to be a very successful sale for the dedicated organising team.
Topping the sale was Lot 19 Lisnacrann T Fuschia from the herd of Michael Oliver, Swinford, Mayo. T Fuschia is a daughter of much sought after and highly regarded Ampertaine Foreman. Her dam Lisnacrann Miss Fuschia and granddam Tullinacurra Fuschia were both part of the Michael’s show team and enjoyed very successful showing careers. T Fuschia has a Replacement index of €84 and a Terminal index of €149. This stylish shapely yearling was tapped down at €3,300.
Lot 18 Rockview Tilly found a new home at €3,200. Tilly is a daughter of Fuschia (LM5052) and Clew bay Rebecca ET. Tilly was bred by Martin O’Connor, Strokestown, Roscommon. She boasts a five star Replacement index of €111 and five star Terminal index of €141. Tilly was shown through out the summer having many successful days out including picking up the Champion and Interbreed champion titles in both Ballinrobe and Ballinamore.
The last heifer to go through the ring was Lot 21 Big Red Tiffany from the Ballyhaunis based herd of Donal Byrne. Tiffany is a smashing daughter of the world record priced bull Trueman Jagger. Her dam Mount Scott Jennifer is a prolific breeder with many of her offspring gracing the winner’s enclosure of Tullamore. Tiffany has five star ratings in many traits. Her selling price was €3100.
Norah and Patricia Moore had a busy time preparing four heifers for the sale – their efforts were rewarded with each of their heifers finding new homes. First up was lot 4 Buckfield Stella a daughter of Jt (Cameos X Nimbus-Mn), and the Vagabond dam Buckfield Nora. With an array of five star ratings, this two year old sold for €3,050. Stella’s yearling sister was Lot 20 Buckfield Tara, a daughter of Slieve Pablo. Tara like her sister is a stylish feminine heifer, she sold for €2950.
Also, from the Buckfield herd was Lot 15 Buckfield Truffle. Truffle is a daughter of Hirohito and the Wilodge Tonka dam Buckfield Patsy 2. This long shapely heifer was born in September 2022, she was acquired by her new owner for €2,850. Lot 12 is also a daughter of Hirohito, Buckfield Tisha. This August 2022 born heifer boasts Kaprico Eravelle and Emerson in her back pedigree. Tisha boasts five star ratings in almost all traits, she sold for €2,400.
Ray Tully presented three heifers at the sale, including two daughters of Roundhill Hunanime 1419 Et, these were Lot 3 Lougheed Sugar Et and Lot 2 Lougheed Smokey Et. Sugar is sired by Fenomen. She sold for €2,900, while Lougheed Smokey Et realised €2,800. Smokey is a daughter of Bavardage. Both have an array of five star ratings.
