An outstanding Lodge Hamlet son took the top price of €6,750 at the May Premier sale, held in Roscrea on Monday 14th May. Logrea Mr. Muscle, a January 2017 born bull had caught the eye of the judge Mr. Adam Watson in the show arena the evening before where he was tapped out as Senior Champion from a very strong class of exceptional bulls. Mr. Muscle was bred by Michael Rattigan, Claremorris, Co. Mayo. His sire is the aforementioned Lodge Hamlet while is dam Logrea Jamelia Et is a daughter of Wilodge Vantastic and the noted donor dam Newtown Trixie.

Gaggin Master Et – €5000

P.J. Hegarty, Bandon, Co. Cork had a very successful day trading with his two bulls Gaggin Master Et and Gaggin Lord Et. Both bulls are embryo sons of Bunratty Uvilinis, a Roundhill Nero daughter. Selling for €5,000 was Gaggin Master Et, a January 2017 born son of Gaggin Junction. Master was purchased by Christy Moore, Ballymacarbery, Co. Waterford.

Junior Champion Gerrygullinane Maxibull – €5000

Commanding a selling price of €5,000 was the Junior Champion Gerrygullinane Maxibull. Maxibull is a son of Wilodge Cerberus and the Marchermore Augustus daughter Derrygullinane Jilly. Maxibull was bred by Gerry Walsh, Ballina, Co. Mayo. Maxibull was purchased by Andrew Ewing for a client in Scotland.

Reserve Junior Champion Newtown Miller ET – €4,900

The Reserve Junior Champion Newtown Miller ET came from the yard of Stanley Richardson, Newtowngore, Co. Leitrim. Miller is a son of Ronick Hawk and Newtown Emma Et (Wilodge Vantastic X Castleview Rub). Miller was purchased by Hugh Brady for his herd in Stradove, Co. Cavan for €4,900.

Shannon Lakeland – €4700

Second prize winner Shannon Lakeland commanded a price of €4,700. Lakeland was bred by Sarah McElligott, Asdee, Co. Kerry. His sire stack includes Hamac, Ardlea Dan and Otan. Born in October 2016 Lakeland was purchased by Ted O’Sullivan, Fermoy, Co. Cork.

 

Gaggin Lord Et – €4,500

Gaggin Lord Et is a September 2016 born son of Ampertaine Gigolo. Lord was placed third in his class in the pre-sale show. He was acquired by Denis Kenneally, Ballyduff, Co. Waterford for €4,500.

Shannon Master 2 – €4400

Also, from the Shannon herd came Shannon Master 2, a February 2017 born son of Edakkya and the Bavardage daughter Shannon Irene. Master 2 was purchased for €4,400 by John Coyne, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.

Joe Droney, Bellharbour, Co. Clare purchased Corranhill Mandela from Ivor Anderson, Killeshandra, Co. Cavan. Mandela is a son of Haltcliffe Dancer and the Vermeil daughter Rockfort Fiona. The gavel fell at €4,100 for Mandela.

The December 2016 born Emerson son Corcamore Lancelot sold for €4,000. Lancelot, a fourth prize winner was bred by Brendan Curtin, Clarina, Co. Limerick. His dam Corcamore Honey has Ampertaine Commander and Neuf in her sire stack. Lancelot was purchased by Thomas O’Connell, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick.

Also selling for €4,000 was Baileys Mattie, a Goldies Jackpot son. Mattie was bred in Batterstown, Co. Meath by Tom Bailey. His dam Baileys Emily is a daughter of Queenshead Altea. Mattie, a third prize winner, was purchased by Matthew Harrison, Portadown, Co. Armagh.

Milan Mario – €3800

Selling for €3,800 was Milan Mario from the herd of Donal McKeon, Enniscrone, Co. Sligo. Mario is a son of Abot Mn and the Rubis daughter Milan Gloria. Raymond McChesny, Bailieboro, Co. Cavan purchased first prize winner Mario.

Ernest Charlton, Angus purchased first prize winner Mount Scott Lifeboy from Michael Sexton, Mullagh, Co. Clare. Lifeboy is a son of Ampertaine Gigolo and Moohane Janet (an Elite Forever Brill Et daughter). Lifeboy was secured for €3,600.

Second prize winner Drombanny Mascot sold for €3,400. Mascot is a son of Damona and the Bavardage daughter Drombanny Janet. Born in March 2017, Mascot was bred by Pat Sheahan, Drombanna, Co. Limerick. He was purchased by local farmer John Benn, Ballygurteen, Roscrea.

At a selling price of €3,300 was Galbally Macho Man 1250 from Trevor Masterson. Macho Man is a son of Galbally Danastic and the Neuf daughter Galbally Dollybird. Placed 4th in his class in the pre-sale show Macho Man was purchased by Ken Connor from Sprucehill, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary.

Tony Hartnett, Athlone, Co. Westmeath received €3,300 for his February 2017 born bull Clonbonny Maximus. Maximus has Ampertaine Commander, But and Highlander in his lineage. Michael Luttrell, Portarlington, Co. Laois purchased Maximus.

Galbally Leroy 1229, from Trevor Masterson, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford sold for €3,200. Leroy is a son of Castleview Gazelle and the Galbally Danastic daughter Galbally Jojo. Declan Leonard purchased Leroy for his herd in Birr, Co. Offaly.

Michael Graham, Boyle, Co. Roscommon received €3,100 for his February 2017 born bull Liverpool Major. Major has Kaprico Eravelle, Haltcliffe Dancer and Ideal 23 in his sire stack. He was purchased by Richard Moloney, Borris-in-Ossory, Co. Laois.

Seven bulls sold for €3,000. First at this price was Galbally Luas 1236 from Trevor Masterson. Luas has Keltic Handsome, Bavardage and Ramses in his pedigree. Luas was purchased by a Nenagh, Co. Tipperary based farmer.

Seamus Mallin, Kiltegan, Co. Wicklow purchased Clonbonny Mountain from Tony Hartnett, Athlone, Co. Westmeath. Mountain is a son of Gamin and Kilcloon Isabelle, an Ampertaine Abracadabra daughter. Three thousand euros was Mountain’s selling price.

Thomas Swaine, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford sold Farmleigh Mossy for €3,000. Mossy is a son of the Farmleigh herd sire – Galbally John and Ardlea Cive, a Picador daughter. Mossy was purchased by Pat Murphy, Clonroche, Co. Wexford.

The Queenshead Altea son Cavelands Mac also sold for €3,000. Born in January 2017 Mac’s dam Cavelands Finuala has Mas Du Clo and Rubis in her lineage. Bred by Paul Sykes, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo. Mac was purchased by Oliver Bracken, Kilcormac, Co. Offaly.

A Kilskeagh Jisop son Mount Scott Morgan also sold at €3,000. Morgan was bred by Michael Sexton, Mullagh, Co. Clare. He was purchased by Michael Nihill, Kilmore, Co. Clare. Morgan’s dam is the Aloor Felix daughter Mount Scott Joanne.

Third prize winner Mullary Mack sold to Sean Farrell, Killeshee, Co. Longford for €3,000. Mack, born in April 2017, is a son of Bremore Jallepino 2 Et and Mullary Immaculate, a Sympa daughter. Mack was bred in Co. Louth by Michael Molloy, Dunleer.

The Ruan pedigree herd of Sean Lyons, Ardroon, Ruan, Co. Clare purchased Milan Marciano for €3,000. Marciano is a son of Wilodge Tonka and the Vagabond daughter Milan Halea. This second prize winner was bred by Donal McKeon, Enniscrone, Co. Sligo.

Moohane Master, an Ampertaine Elgin son sold for €2,800. Master was bred by John Meehan, Newmarket-On-Fergus, Co. Clare. Placed third in his class in the pre-sale show, Master was purchased by Michael Coughlan, Kilrush, Co. Clare.

Eamon Lee, Birr, Co. Offaly purchased Mount Scott Leroy for €2,500. Leroy has Aloor Felix, Gamin and Pacha 08 in his lineage. Leroy was bred by Michael Sexton, Mullagh, Co. Clare.

Cushcallow Louis from Peter Keane, Banagher, Co. Offaly sold for €2,450. Louis has Cloughhead Ernie, Mas Du Clo and Ardlea S236 in his sire stack. Louis was purchased by Liam Whyte, Birr, Co. Offaly.

Reserve Senior Champion Birchpark Mighty Mouse

Reserve Senior Champion was awarded to Birchpark Mighty Mouse. Born in January 2017, Mighty Mouse has Mullary Intrepid, Procters Cavalier and Nenuphar in his sire stack. Mighty Mouse was bred by Owen Flannery, Mountshannon, Co. Clare. He left the ring unsold having failed to meet his reserve.

Heifers

Gerrygullinane Maggie – €4500

Top price in the small entry of females went to the Plumtree Fantastic daughter Gerrygullinane Maggie. Second prize winner Maggie was born in January 2017. Her dam Derrygullinane Iceprincess has Procters Cavalier and Nenuphar in her linage. Iceprincess was bred by Gerry Walsh and Anne Marie Clarke, Ballina, Co. Mayo. She was purchased by Jonathan Neill, Crossgar, Co. Down for €4,500.

Noel Fennessy of the Wood Road herd which is based in Castleconnell, Co. Limerick sold four heifers. Top call for Noel was €3,400 for Wood Road Lulu Et a September 2016 born daughter of Ampertaine Gigolo and Noel’s renowned donor cow Claque. Lulu was purchased by Vincent O’Sullivan, Beara, Co. Cork.

Lulu’s full sister Wood Road Lucia Et sold for €2,700. Lucia was purchased by Adrian Buckley, Drimoleague, Co. Cork.

Second prize winner Wood Road Lauren sold for €2,600. Lauren is a daughter of Gamin and the Mas Du Clo dam Wood Road B801 Et. Lauren was purchased by Patrick Sheehy, Rathkeale, Co. Limerick.

Wood Road Lena sold for the same price, €2,600. Lena is steeped in Wood Road genetics, her sire is Wood Road Donald Et (son of the remarkable donor dam Nadia B), while her dam is the Ideal 23 daughter Wood Road Henrietta ET. Lena was purchased by Liam Bollard, Rochfortbridge, Co. Westmeath.

Donie McKeon, Enniscrone, Co. Sligo sold two young heifers at this sale. First from Donie was Milan Lilliana which he sold for €2,700. Lilliana is a daughter of Ampertaine Foreman and Milan Bonnie (a Ronick Hawk daughter). Lilliana was purchased by Matthew Greene, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Donie’s second heifer Milan Lucette commanded a selling price of €2,400. Lucette has Norman Inventor, Casimir and Ferry in her lineage. Lucette was acquired by Eamon O’Halloran, Cratloe, Co. Clare.

The youngest heifer of offer Knockcoolkeare Mascot sold for €2,600. Mascot was bred in county Limerick by Michael Roche, Mount Collins. She is a daughter of Wilodge Cerberus and Wood Road Izzy Et (a Sympa daughter). Third prize winner Mascot was purchased by Michael Luttrell, Portarlington, Co. Laois.

Also acquired by Michael Luttrell was Caherlevoy Lady a September 2016 born heifer from Shane Sheehan, Mount Collins, Co. Limerick. Third prize winning Lady has Ampertaine Gigolo, Ardlea Dan and Mas Du Clo in her sire stack.

Female Champion Liverpool Lady

Female Champion was rewarded to Liverpool Lady an outstanding Ampertaine Elgin daughter from Michael Graham, Boyle, Co. Roscommon. Her dam Liverpool Exquisite has Shire Milton and Genial in her sire stack. Lady left the ring unsold.

Reserve Female Champion Gerrygullinane Madam

Reserve Female Champion was the Gerrygullinane Glen daughter Gerrygullinane Madam. Born in March 2017, Madam was bred by Gerry Walsh, Ballina, Co. Mayo. Her dam Derrygullinane Haya has Emerson and Nenuphar in her sire stack. Madam left the ring unsold.

Next Show and Sale

The next society show and sale is in Roscommon on Saturday 19th May. Eighty-four bulls and 24 heifers will be offered for sale. Show at 9am – Sale at 1pm.
