It was great to see at the recent British Limousin Society Autumn Bull Sale, held in Carlisle on Saturday 14th of October, a number of bulls with Irish bloodlines in their pedigree. The bulls sold in Carlisle are sold in guineas.

Selling for 20,000gns was Grahams Michael, a June 2016 born embryo son of Ampertaine Elgin and the renowned Milbrook Ginger Spice. Michael was bred by R. & J. Graham, Bridge Of Allan, Stirling. Milbrook Ginger Spice is the property of William Smith, Oldcastle, Co. Meath. She is a daughter of Wilodge Vantastic and Milbrook Baby. This exceptional female has enjoyed a tremendous show career, including at the National show and Balmoral.

 

The Grahams also offered a May 2016 bull for sale, Grahams Mungo. This bull sold for 14,000 gns, he is a son of Irish breed Kilcor Iceman and the French dam Galipette. Mungo’s sire, Kilcor Iceman, was bred by Robert Gill, Braddox, Co. Monaghan. He was purchased from Robert by Davies Brothers, who presented him for sale in Roscrea, where he was awarded the champion title along with topping the sale at €28,000. From the same yard was Grahams Monty, also a son of Iceman. Monty sold for 5,000gns.

Also at 5000gns was Strawfrank Mateo from Allan Campbell, Strawfrank Farm, Lanark. Strawfrank Maeto is a maternal grandson of Moloskey Claus. Claus was bred in Mullagh, Co. Clare by Brendan Clancy.

Carmorn Masterclass, is a grandson of Milbrook Tanko. Masterclass sold for 5,000 gns. He was bred in Antrim by Francis McAuley, Toomebridge. Milbrook Tanko was bred by William Smith.

At the same money was May 2016 born Ashledge Mason, a Killcastle Horace son from A.G. Kirton and Sons, Severn Lodge Farm, Bewdley. Killcastle Horace was bred by the Kelly family, Moate, Co. Westmeath.

Ian Nimmo received 4,00ogns for Maraiscote Mazerati, a grandson of Ian’s herd sire Virginia Andy. Ian and his family have purchased a number of their herd sires at Roscrea sales. Virginia Andy was bred by Leo McEnroe, Maghera, Co. Cavan. He was a very successful breeder in the Maraiscote herd, many of the breeding females in the herd are his descendants.
