Almost 30 years of breeding exceptional quality Limousin cattle and building a herd of note came to an end with the dispersal of the Brooklands Pedigree and commercial herds in Gort mart on Saturday the 5th of June 2021. The herd was the property of Clive Jennings from Enniskeane, West Cork. Clive is a renowned stock man and has judged at many events down through the years.
A comment from Clive:
Brooklands Limousin herd was founded in the spring of 1992 with the purchase of a heifer at a Limousin sale in Bandon. The heifer purchased was Knockagree Fuchsia, a Haltcliffe Rembrant daughter that lay the foundations for what the herd is today. Her first calf a heifer was born in February 1993 and went on to rear 11 natural calves.
Over the last three decades through careful sire selection, using top British and French genetics our herd has enjoyed much success. We are very proud to have bred two high profile A.I. sires currently standing in Dovea genetics Brooklands F0959 (KJB) and an upcoming sire Brooklands Marco (LM5443) we are privileged to have excelled at numerous Irish Limousin sales since our foundation but the highlight has to be 2012 when Brooklands F0951(pictured) was senior champion at the march premier sale where he sold for a whopping €14,500 to Wales.
In more recent times Brooklands Ken purchased by ‘Jalex Livestock’ in Northern Ireland went on to sire ‘Jalex Just The One’ who was housewife choice at the Royal Ulster Beef show December 2020 and sold for £5,000 stg.
All our Limousin stock in the sale carry the Brooklands prefix and have many generations born on our farm.
Our small choice commercial herd also disperses today and contains all our best cow families. Our cows are sired by Gamin (GIA), KJB, Wilodge Joskins and Ballyline Uppie, two superb weanlings by ice cream and a very stylish colourful Hamlet heifer calf.
Our herd is commercially run with emphasis always placed on docility, functionality, milking ability, fertility and excellent quality.
It is with great sadness that I have to offer my pedigree and commercial herd for sale.

Topping the sale was BROOKLANDS IVANA, a 7 year old daughter of the renowned homebred Brooklands F0959 (widely known in breeding circles as KJB, he has sired in excess of 12,000 calves in pedigree, commercial sucker and dairy herds. KJB is a son of Ronick Hawk and Brooklands Cheryl and stands in Dovea Genetics. Ivana boasts five star ratings in Replacement index, Carcass weight, Carcass conformation and Daughter milk. She stood in the ring with her seven month old Ampertaine Majestic sired daughter BROOKLANDS REBELETTE. Ivana, who is scanned back in calf to Ampertaine Majestic was purchased by a Northern Ireland based breeder for €6,100. Rebelette, who herself carries multiple five star ratings was acquired by a Mayo based customer for €4,100.

€6,400 was top call for BROOKLANDS MEGAN a multi-starred daughter of Bova AI’s Gamin (ZGM) and her November 2020 born son at foot BROOKLANDS RUFUS by Norman Inventor. Megan is scanned back in calf to Loyal. Megan and Rufus were purchased by a Mayo based farmer.

Also, selling with her calf was BROOKLANDS JEZEBEL a Bavardage daughter. Her calf BROOKLANDS REUBEN is a November 2020 son of Tomschoice Lexicon. Jezebel is due to calf down to Lexicon in Oct/Nov. A cork based breeder acquired the pair for €5,800. Incidentally, the same breeder acquire Jezebel’s two year old in calf Kaprico Eravelle daughter BROOKLANDS NISHA for €4,400. With linage that includes two very sought after sires Bavardage and Kaprico Eravelle, Nisha has five star ratings in most traits and is in calf to Loyal.

Seven year old Queenshead Altea daughter BROOKLANDS IVETTE sold for €4,700 to a county Clare based customer. Ivette has five star ratings in Replacement index, Docility, Carcass conformation and Daughter Milk. She is in calf to Plumtree Fantastic. Her son BROOKLANDS ROYCE sold for €1,700 also to a Clare based customer. Royce carries five star ratings in almost all traits and is sired by Plumtree Fantastic.

Just shy of 7 months old was BROOKLANDS ROWAN a son of Elderberry Galahad and the Plumtree Fantastic dam BROOKLANDS NOELLE. Rowan has a Replacement index of €126 and Terminal index of €133 and is predicted to be very easy calving. He was purchased for €4,000 by a Tipperary based customer. His dam Noelle has an array of five star ratings and was purchased for €3,200 by a Limerick based farmer.

The mother and son team BROOKLANDS JANE and BROOKLANDS SHELDON sold for €3,750. Jane is a daughter of Brooklands F0959 and is in calf to Edakkya. Sheldon, born in January 2021 is a five month old son of Edakkya. Both have many five star ratings, they were purchased by a Mayo based customer.

Also heading to Limerick is BROOKLANDS MINNIE MOUSE with her 5 month old daughter BROOKLANDS SAGE at a price of €3,700. Minnie Mouse is a daughter of Gamin (ZAM) while Sage is sired by Norman Inventor. Both have five star ratings in many traits.
Heading to Ennis, Co. Clare is BROOKLANDS G1032 by Elegante Earl. This lady is due to calf down in August to Tomschoice Lexicon. G1032 is dam to the top-priced Brooklands Ivana. G1032 has five star ratings in Replacement index, Docility, Carcass weight and Carcass conformation. She secured a price of €3,300.
A Limerick based customer took home BROOKLANDS JEMMA with her January born daughter BROOKLANDS SONNET for €3,320. Jemma has KJB, Pacha 19 and Triomphe in her sire stack. Sonnet is sired by Plumtree Fantastic.
Eight month old BROOKLANDS ROANNA was the pick of a Galway based established breeder for €3,000. Roanna is a multi-starred daughter of Tomschoice Lexicon. Her dam sold for €2,800, she has Fieldson Alfy, Highlander and Espoir in her sire stack. She was acquired by a Mallow based customer.

BROOKLANDS NOLAN, a full brother to the aforementioned Brooklands F0959 (KJB) sold for €3,000. Thirty month old Nolan has a Replacement index of €102 and Terminal index of €128, he also has five star ratings in Docility, Carcass weight, Carcass conformation and Daughter milk. Nolan was purchased by a Galway based farmer.

Also on offer was Clive’s herd of commercial show stock. These all have Limousin bloodlines. Topping this was a mother and daughter team at €3,550. The dam is a five year old daughter of KJB, she is 75% LM with 12.5% BB blood, she is in calf to Lodge Hamlet. Her December 2020 born daughter is sired by Lodge Hamlet. The pair were acquired by a Cork based farmer.

A daughter of Gamin (GIA) sold for €2,900, this nine year old is 50% LM and 25% BB. She was acquired by a Clare based customer, she is in calf to Elite Icecream. Her October 2020 born son also by Elite Icecream reached a selling price of €1,250.
€2,600 was acquired for a 10 year old daughter of Ballyline Uppie. This lady is 50% LM and 25% BB. She sold in calf to legendary show producer Elite Icecream to a Cork based customer. Her weanling daughter also by Elite Ice Cream realised €2,150.
The final LMX on offer was a daughter of Wilodge Joskins, this first calver is 62.5% LM and 25% CH, she was purchased by a Cork based customer, who will have an EBY calf to look forward to in late September.
