Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin drops by the Limousin ring at Charleville show 2018

Charleville show was held on Saturday and Sunday the 23^rd and 24^th June 2018. Cattle classes were all held on Saturday 23^rd. A good entry of Limousin cattle were put forward in front of show Judge Mr. Michael Oliver of the Lisnacrann pedigree herd based in Swinford, Co. Mayo.

Michael was tasked with judging a total of eight classes – from which he then awarded a Male Champion, a Female Champion and an Overall Champion. The Overall champion was won by Roundhill Iondine 1496, a powerful Elite Forever Brill Et daughter, presented by Bobby O’Connell of the Ballybrown herd, Clarina, Co. Limerick. Roundhill Iondine 1496, is enjoying a successful show season this year with her February born Castleview Gazelle daughter Ballybrown Nina at foot.

 

Speaking after the show Michael Oliver commented:

My champion here today is an outstanding cow with tremendous power and presence, additionally – she is rearing a nice calf. The Male champion and Reserve Overall Champion Ardnacrusha Lord Of The Rings is a very correct and well balanced bull. Over all the cattle presented to me were of excellent quality, the younger cattle should in time develop into very good breeding stock.

Reserve Female was John and Tom Hickey’s September 2017 born heifer Brookland Maggie. Reserve Male went to Noel Fennessy’s September 2017 born bull Wood Road Mitch Et.
