Cork Limousin Club Charity Auction in aid of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust
In late 2019 some of the Club members decided to organise a fund raiser for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust in memory of Timothy Kelleher, son of Anthony Kelleher, the club PRO. Timothy died unexpectedly in September 2019 in Spain.
A charity auction was held in the Abbey Hotel, Ballyvourney on 15 February 2020. Jerh O’Sullivan, Cork Marts, kindly officiated. The Irish Limousin Cattle Society President Michael Gunn attended the event.
Over 70 lots were auctioned on the night. These included embryos and straws kindly donated by Dan Tynan, Mr and Mrs Tim Corridon, Pat O’Neill, Donal Moloney, Mr and Mrs John Moloney, Keith and Caroline Vickery, Mike Collins, Paul and Mary Sykes, Kieran Noonan, John Lynch of Dovea Genetics, Frank Buckley, James Wycherley, Michael Philips of World Wide Sires and Munster Bovine. Freezer ready lambs and a large number of vouchers, hampers and other items and services were also offered.
We are very grateful to all the breeders and businesses for their amazing generosity, and to all those who supported and contributed to the event. The event raised €25,565 for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, no presentation event could take place. The Club received a lovely acknowledgement of the donation from the Trust. The Club would like to acknowledge the huge amount of work undertaken by Tim McCarthy, Frank Buckley and Bernie Kelleher (Timothy’s mother) in organising this event, which the Club were very happy to support.
The Cork Club would like to thank all our members and sponsors for their continued support throughout the year. Special thanks the Limousin Society staff for their on-going assistance and support.
We wish all our members good health and a safe 2021.
James Wycherley,
Cork Limousin Club Secretary
