The Cork Limousin Club in conjunction with Kanturk Mart held a LMX Calf competition on Tuesday the 8th April 2025.

Prizes were on offer to the best LMX bull and best LMX heifer calf. Tasked with judging the calves was Brian Fleming.

Pair of bull calves – Limousin X Friesian €580 each

The wining owner of both categories was Johnny Lane of Boherbue. Both calves were off his current Limousin stock bull while their dams Friesian cows from his dairy herd.

The winning heifer calf was 5 weeks old, she weighed 94kg and sold for €555,

The winning bull calf was one month old, he came to the sales ring as part of a pair – they weighed 78kg and sold for €580 each.
