County Limericks largest Agricultural show – Cappamore show – took place in a new venue at Portnard, Cappamore on Saturday 19th August, 2017. The new venue is located a 1/4 of a mile from the old site. South West club members Paddy and Sean Ryan of the Sliabh Felim herd are an intergral part of the excellent committee responsible for the organisation of the Show.

Starting off cattle classes were two Interbreed pedigree classes.

Judge for both Interbreed classes was Mr. Pearse McNamee, Lifford, Co. Donegal. The class for older calves “Inter Breed Calf Competition. Ped. Calf, male or female, born 1st Sept. 2016 to 31 Dec. 2016” was won by Donal Moloney’s Ardnacrusha Lord of the Rings, a September 2016 born son of Wilodge Vantastic and Donal’s renowned donor cow Etole. In a very keenly contested lineup Michael McInerney’s Brickhill Lana placed third, while Micheal Roche’s Knockcoolkeare Lady Nadia B was fourth. The Limousin bred also took the top spot in the “Inter Breed Calf Competition. Ped. Calf, male or female, born on or after 1st Jan. 2017″ – Micheal Roche’s much admired Knockcoolkeare Mistic beat stiff competition to take the red rosette. Mistic is a February 2017 born daughter of Glorieux and Castleview Gail.

The pedigree Limousin classes were judged by David Swaine, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. The Swaine family run the pedigree Limousin Farmleigh herd.
