The second Kilkenny multi-breed bull sale took place on Wednesday 17th April in Cillin Hill. Thirteen Limousin bulls were on offer – eleven of these sold to an average price of €3,600.
Tipperary breeder Brendan Hogan, Thurles stole the show in Kilkenny mart when he sold three bulls for a combined price of €13,600.
Topping the consignment from Brendan was OLDTOWN TIM, a son of the homebred Chatelain son Oldtown Rex. Tim carries five star ratings in Replacement index, Terminal index, Docility, Carcass weight, Carcass conformation and Daughter milk. After a flurry of bids, the hammer fell at €4,900 for Tim.
OLDTOWN THEO found a new abode at €4,600. Theo is a son of Oldtown Rob (Elderberry Galahad X Ampertaine Foreman). Theo carries five star ratings in Replacement index, Docility, Carcass conformation and Daughter milk.
Completing the hat-trick was the Tweeddale Lennox son OLDTOWN TRAVIS, sold for €4,100. Travis’ dam Oldtown Prosha has Ampertaine Commander and Wilodge Drummer in her sire stack. Travis Has a Replacement index of €119 and a Terminal index of €120.
TINNECARRIG TARZAN, a Keltic Handsome son sold for €3,800. Tarzan was bred in county Carlow by Eamonn Coleman. Tarzan has five star ratings in Replacement index, Terminal index, Carcass weight and Carcass conformation.
The multi-starred Hector Gd son GALBALLY TOKYO 1855 was snapped up at €3,700. Tokyo’s dam Galbally Patricia 1458 has Gstaad and Bavardage in her lineage. Tokyo 1855 was bred by Trevor Masterson, Co. Wexford.
MINEARE TERRY, an October 2022 born bull sold for €3,600. Terry has Keltic Handsome, On-Dit and Ionesco in his sire stack. Terry was bred in Kilkenny by Anthony Brennan.
€3,500 was top call for FARMLEIGH THUMPER, bred by Thomas Swaine, Co. Wexford. Thumper is a multi-starred son of Elderberry Galahad and the Grenache daughter Farmleigh Priscilla.
