Rules & Regulations

1. The competition is confined to the South West club area.

2. Herds will be categorised according to size.

  • Small 5-12 Breeding Females

  • Medium 13-30 Breeding Females

  • Large 30+ Breeding Females

Note: A “Breeding Female” is considered a female who has had at least one calf born before the closing date of entry.

3. All cattle eligible for the competition must be shown to the judge.

4. Entry Fees will apply according to herd category.

  • Small €50

  • Medium €80

  • Large €100

5. Points will be allocated to each herd as follows:

6. Judging will take place in late September or early October on a day agreed between the secretariat and the breeder.

7. Additional categories judged across all herds are:

Best Young Bull, Best Young Heifer, Best Group of Calves <1 year, Best Cow, Best Cow Family (3 generations), Best Group Maiden Heifers and Best Group In-Calf Heifers.

8. The decision of the judge is final.

9. Safety is of paramount importance – remember to adhere to Department of Health advice.
