Limerick Show was back for the first time since 2019 and what a glorious day in the magnificent surrounds of Limerick Racecourse in Patrickswell it proved to be. With the mercury hitting 23 degrees, there was a great atmosphere with record breaking crowds enjoying a feast of activities, entertainment and some of the best livestock from all over the country on show.
While numbers were slightly back on pre-Covid 19 shows – the quality on display was exceptional. Renowned showman Richard O’Beirne, Tuam, Co. Galway, was tasked with judging both the Limousin and Charolais classes.
The Milbrook herd of William Smith was well rewarded for undertaking the long trip from Oldcastle, Co. Meath, when two of the herd’s show team took the Limousin Champion and Reserve titles. The six-month-old homebred Ampertaine Foreman heifer “Milbrook Tanya ET” was crowned Limousin Champion.
Tanya ET is no stranger to showring success having won the Reserve overall title at the National Livestock show in Tullamore. Her stablemate “Milbrook Siabh ET” placed first in a very strong class of heifers before taking the Reserve Champion crown. Siabh ET is a daughter of Ideal 23 and the highly regarded Neuf dam Milbrook Enya – a consistent breeder of show winners, incidentally another daughter of Enya was placed first in Class 86 – Limousin Female born on or before 31st August 2021.
