The RDS “Champion of Champions” awards are a set of prestigious awards presented annually by The Royal Dublin Society. Every year an award is presented to breeders from different cattle societies. The cattle are selected for these award’s based on their success at livestock shows during the show season.

The outstanding cow – Meelickaduff Honda ET bred by Owen Hester, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon was the recipient of the RDS Champion of Champions award for 2017 – retaining this prestigious honour for the second year in succession.

Honda won the award having won at numerous shows in 2017. She was the overall Supreme Champion at the 28th National Show in Tullamore, she also took First and Champion at the following shows: Charleville, Clonmel, Bridgetown, Limerick and Elphin. She won first in Corofin and first and Reserve champion in Strokestown.

Honda is an embryo daughter of Wilodge Vantastic and the French dam Etole. She was born on 16th December 2012. Etole has breed exceptionally well for Donal Moloney of the Ardnacrusha herd.  One of Honda’s full brothers – Ardnacrusha Lord of the Rings was awarded the Male of the Year award for 2017.

Honda was shown in 2017 with her February born bull calf Meelickaduff Massey at foot. In 2016 she was shown with her first-born son Meelickaduff Lamborghini, subsequently sold to an AI company.
