Due to Covid-19 our annual May Premier sale was held online on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May. Holding the sale Online was an initiative by council due to the current difficult circumstances we are all in at the moment. The sale was officiated over by Denis Barrett, each vendor submitted a video montage and photos of their livestock, these were available to view from last Wednesday on the DenisBarrett.com website.
Overall the sale met with a price range of €2,200 to €8,000 for bulls and €2,200 to €4,300 for heifers. While the clearance rate was low overall, lots met with a respectable average price. The Graham family from Boyle, Co. Roscommon had a tremendous days trading – their outstanding 13 month old Plumtree Fantastic son LIVERPOOL PIRATE sold for the sales top price of €8,000 (joint top price for 2020 so far). Pirate’s dam is the homebred Ampertaine Commander daughter Liverpool Kate. The renowned Ardlea Elite herd of Dan Tynan, Mountrath, Co. Laois sold ARDLEA NAPOLEON ET for €6,100. Napoleon stood as Reserve Junior Male Champion at last years’ National Liverstock show. Napoleon is a September 2018 born son of Bavardage and the Ampertaine Elgin daughter Elite Kimberly Et. Napoleon boasts five star ratings in Replacement index, Terminal index, Carcass weight, Carcass conformation and Daughter milk. Limerick bred bull CORCAMORE NEDDY sold for €3,300. Neddy is a son of Raffertys Immanuel and the Goldies Terence daughter Corcamore Fay. Neddy has five star ratings in Replacement index, Terminal index, Docility, Carcass weight, Carcass conformation and Daughter milk. Neddy was bred by Brendan Curtin, Clarina. Multi-starred ANNAGHANNE NIGHTWATCHERS ET sold for €3,000. Nightwatchers was bred by Declan McCaffrey, Scotshouse, Co. Monaghan. Nightwatchers is a son of Ampertaine Foreman, his dam Whitehall Emerald is a daughter of Wilodge Vantastic. County Clare breeders Michael and Andrew McInerney sold their February 2019 born bull BRICKHILL PERCY for €2,950. Percy has Kaprico Eravelle, Ampertaine Gigolo and Wilodge Vantastic in his sire stack. Nigella is a daughter of Ampertaine Gigolo, her dam Milan Janella has Loosebeare Fantastic and Malibu in her back pedigree. Nigella is due to calve in August to Lodge Hamlet.
