Irish connections breaking world records in the sales ring…

In Carlisle on Friday January 29th a reduction sale on behalf of the Wilodge herd of Christine Williams and Paul Tippets, and a selection of livestock from the Brockhurst herd from W.J. & M. Mash meet with a record breaking price for the Limousin breed.

Setting the new world record price was an embryo daughter of the renowned county Meath bred Limousin cow Milbrook Ginger Spice – WILODGE POSHSPICE. This November 2019 born heifer sold for 250,000 gns.

Wilodge Poshspice is sired by Ampertaine Elgin. Her dam Milbrook Ginger Spice was bred by William Smith, Oldcastle. She is a daughter of Wildoge Vantastic, her maternal granddam Milbrook Baby (is a daughter of Brookmill Usefull Et and Milbrook Nightingale Et).

Milbrook Ginger Spice has won many titles in her show career including the prestigious Interbreed Championship in Balmoral on three occasions, she has been crowned Champion at the National Livestock show in Tullamore twice.

The Irish bred bulls POWERFUL IRISH and GERRYGULLINANE GLEN proved why investing in exceptional Limousin bulls is a very shrewd move.

Powerful Irish

Descendants of Powerful Irish, who was bred in Co. Cavan by Philip Crowe sold for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th top-prices in Carlisle. Wilodge Onhigh a 2-year old daughter sold for 25,000 gns. Two full sisters Wilodge Opulent and Wilodge Poshgem sold for 20,000 gns each. Opulent and Poshgem’s dam – Wilodge Littlegem is a highly regarded daughter of Powerful Irish.

To date Powerful Irish has bred two Senior Champions in Carlisle and a Female Champion at the renowned Red Ladies sale.

Selling for 11,000gns was a Gerrygullinane Glen Daughter – Wilodge Lida with her bull calf Wilodge Randy at foot. Gerrygullinane Glen was bred in Mayo by Gerry Walsh. He is a son of Marchermore Augustus and Derrygullinae Daisy (a Mas Du Clo daughter). Glen was purchased by the Wildoge herd in 2012 and has gone on the breed exceptionally well for the herd.
