Tullamore Mart was the venue for the Society sale on Saturday 23rd of March 2019. Seventy four percent of the bulls on offer found new homes at an average selling price of €2,665. With buyer interest across all sectors confidence in the breed remains high.

Eleanor Reilly, a very active YMA member from the North East Limousin Club officiated as judge for the pre-sale show. Eleanor has competed in many YMA events to great success. Tapped forward as Champion was Roundhill Marco, a Bavardage son from the well-regarded herd of Tim Corridan, Fedamore, Co. Limerick. Born in October 2017, Marco is a grandson of the renowned show cow Roundhill Egiroflee 1164 Et. With five star ratings in almost all traits the Champion was purchased by a local farmer for €3,350.

Lot 6. The Reserve Champion, Sliabh Felim Mickey, also hails from county Limerick, from the herd of Sean Ryan, Cappamore. Mickey is a 19-month old son of Kaprico Eravelle and the homebred Fieldson Alfy dam Sliabh Felim Jamelia. With an array of five star ratings Mickey was snapped up by Cepta Flynn, Loughrea, Co. Galway for €3,400.

Lot 12. At the same selling price of €3,400 was second prize winner Galbally Motivator 1305. Motivator was bred in Enniscorthy, Wexford by Trevor Masterson. Boasting a Terminal index of €154 and a Replacement index of €167, and a pedigree that includes Castleview Gazelle, Roundhill Saturn and Wilodge Tonka. Motivator caught the eye of Raymond Lawlor, Colbinstown, Co. Kildare.

Lot 18. Shannon Manfred an eye-catching Cameos son sold for €3,100. Manfred was bred by Sarah McElligott, Listowel, Co. Kerry. His dam is the Wilodge Goldcard daughter Shannon Jarlinda. Fourth prize winner Manfred was purchased by Fergus Geraghty, Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath.

Lot 21. Peter Brien, Summerhill, Co. Meath paid €3,100 for Roundhill Monty, a Tomschoice Ironstone son. Monty has five star ratings in most traits. He was bred by Tim Corridan.

Lot 16. Also bred by Tim Corridan was multi-starred Roundhill Mason commanded a selling price of €3,000. Mason has Kaprico Eravelle, Hinz and Mas Du Clo in his sire stack. He was purchased by Frank Garrett to run with his suckler herd based in Ballina, Co. Mayo.

Lot 4. Carrowneden Mariner an Elite Ice Cream son sold for €2,700. Mariner was bred by Liam Lyons, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo. Mariner’s dam has Haltcliffe Dollar and On-dit in her lineage. This second prize winner was purchased by Hugh Carolan, Kells, Co. Meath.

Lot 29. Sixteen month old Farmleigh Mikey sold for €2,700. Mikey was bred by David and Joe Swaine, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. Mikey has Bavardage, Fieldson Alfy, Mas du Clo and Strong in his pedigree. Mary Murtagh, Ballymahon, Co. Westmeath acquired this second prize winner.

Lot 25. Oldtown Mouse, an Usse son sold for €2,550. Mouse was bred by William Hogan, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Awarded fourth prize in the pre-sale show, Mouse was acquired by Peter Fagan, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.

Lot 27. The Ampertaine Commander son Kilnacappagh Mighty Man sold for €2,500. Mighty Man was bred by Richard Ryan, Newport, Co. Tipperary. With five star ratings in Terminal index, Replacement index, Carcass weight, Carcass conformation and Daughter calving interval, this young bull was snapped up by Teresa Barrett, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon.

Lot 7. Coolrain Monty sold for €2,450. Monty was bred by Gearoid & Padraic Kennedy, Coolrain, Co. Laois. Sired by Elderberry Galahad and out of Coolrain Jellybean (a Drummin Goliath daughter), Monty was acquired by Carbury, Co. Kildare based John Connolly.
