Clare Limousin Club heifer sale
The Clare Limousin Club held their pedigree heifer sale in Sixmilebridge Mart on Friday evening the 17th of November 2023. A catalogue of 37 heifers ranging were put forward by breeders from all over the county. A jam packed ringside saw the dedicated team of organisers rewarded for their hard work with a fantastic clearance rate. The average price was €2,721 with a range of €1,600 to €5,000.
Before the sale the eagerly anticipated Mega Moo draw took place – the lucky winner was Gordan Shine. HURRICANE UTOPIA, a January 2023 born heifer bred by Darrragh O’Meara, Roo West, Ardnacrusha was Gordan’s pick. Darragh receives €5,000 as the breeder of the heifer.
Lot 6 John Meehan, Moohane, Newmarket On Fergus presented three heifers at the sale, first up for John was MOOHANE SADIE, a July 2021 born daughter of Bova AI’s Loyal. This stylish heifer is scanned in calf to Grenache and is carrying a bull calf. Sadie sold for €4,200.
Lot 15 BRICKHILL TWILIGHT, a very shapey and stylish daughter of Plumtree Fantastic came to the ring with five star ratings in Replacement, Carcass weight, Carcass conformation and Daughter calving interval. Bred by Michael McInerney, Brickhill East, Cratloe – Twilight sold for €3,600.
MEENROSS TRUFFLES ET
Lot 21. The Lodge Hamlet daughter MEENROSS TRUFFLES ET from James O’Grady, Meenross, Scariff sold for €3,550. Truffles has five star ratings in Replacement, Carcass weight, Carcass conformation and Daughter calving interval. Sixteen month old Truffles is from a very successful show family – her full sister Meenross Prospect was a 1st prize winner at the National Show in 2019, while her maternal brother Meenross Leader was Reserve Supreme Limousin Champion in 2017.
BALLYKINNCURRA SCARLET
Lot 8 BALLYKINNCURRA SCARLET, a multi-starred two year old sold for €3,500. Scarlet’s pedigree includes Fest Noz, Ampertaine Foreman and Nino. Scarlet was recently served to Dovea Genetics Drumline S 1185. Scarlet was bred by John Moroney, Ballykinnacurra, Corofin.
Lot 7 The second heifer on offer from John Meehan was MOOHANE SADHBH, an August 2021 born daughter of Ampertaine Metric. Sadhbh is due to calf down in spring 2024 to Hector. Sadhbh sold for €3,450.
Lot 1 The first heifer to the ring DRUMLINE S 1150 came from James Hannon’s herd based in Clonmoney, Bunratty. S 1150 is a daughter of Drumline Macron (Goldies Terence X Sympa) and the Highlander daughter Drumline K940. With a page full of stars, this in calf heifer sold for €3,250.
Four heifers sold for €3,000.

- Lot 5 FAIRHILL SALLY, an Elite Ice Cream Et daughter from Anthony Moloney, Fairhill, Feakle.
- Lot 17 FAIRHILL TONI, a Wilodge Cerberus daughter also from Anthony Moloney.
- Lot 26 BRICKHILL TOPAZ, a Tomschoice Lexicon daughter from Michael McInerney.
BIRCHPARK TINKERBELL
Lot 18. An established Galway based breeder purchased BIRCHPARK TINKERBELL from Owen Flannery, Clounty, Mountshannon. Tinkerbell has Wilodge Formulaone and Wilodge Cerberus in her pedigree. The hammer fell at €2,950 for Tinkerbell.
Lot 28 The Plumtree Fantastic daughter HURRICANE TWIRLS realised €2,800 for her breeder Darragh O’Meara. Fourteen month old Twirls boasts five star ratings in many traits. She was acquired by an established breeder.
Lot 3 DRUMLINE S 1163 from James Hannon sold for €2,600. S 1163 has Goldies Terence and Wilodge Cerberus in her sire stack.
