The South West Limousin Club held a Commercial Breeding Heifer Sale in conjunction with the weekly cattle sale at Castleisland mart on Wednesday the 28th March. There was a large entry of excellent quality Limousin heifers on offer.
John O’Connor was once again tasked with judging the heifers.
John gave first prize to a red Limousin heifer – she weighed 406kg and made €1155. This heifer was owned by Batt O’Callaghan, Newmarket.
Second prize went to a black heifer from John O’Sullivan, Tournafulla. This heifer was just gone a year old she weighed 424kg and returned a price of €950.

Commercial Calf show and sale
On Monday the 16th April we will have our Commercial Calf sale – with prizes for both the vendors and purchasers of the top three heifer calves and the top three bull calves.
