Purchasers were eager to invest in the breed leading to a whooping 96% clearance at the annual Clare Limousin Club heifer sale, held in Sixmilebridge mart on Friday the 16th of November. A top price of €4,300 and an average selling price of €3,146. The heifers presented were a credit to their breeders. George Candler took charge of the podium and conducted the sale with his trademark gusto.
Lot 15. Topping the sale at €4,300 was MONAFOLA TESS from the Newmarket-on-Fergus based herd of Sean O’Connor. Monafola Tess is a stylish May 2022 born daughter of Gamin and the Mullary Intrepid dam Finboy Layla. Tess is a double carrier of the F94L (the Profit gene), she has a 5-star Replacement index value of €158 and a 5-star Terminal index of €147. She sold incalf to Drumline 1185, due in early January. She was acquired by a county Clare based purchaser.
Lot 16. Heading to a new home in Roscommon is BALLYKINNCURRA TAMARA from the herd of John and Sean Moroney, Corofin. Tamara is daughter of Grenache and the homebred Ampertaine Foreman dam Ballykinncurra Mariah. Tama has five star ratings in Dairy Beef, Age at Finish, Carcass conformation and Daughter Milk. She is a double carrier of the F94L gene. After a flurry of bids the hammer fell at €4,100 for September 2022 born Tamara.
Lot 10. James Hannon of the Drumline herd had six heifers on offer from his Bunratty based Drumline herd, topping his consignment was DRUMLINE T 1210 at a selling price of €4,000. T 1210 is a daughter of Norman Inventor, her dam Drumline K 932 has Springvalley Harrison and Milbrook Tanko in her lineage. T 1210 is due to calve down in January to the Tomschoice Lexicon son – Shannon Stan (LM9379). T 1210 heads to an established pedigree herd.
Lot 5. Also from James Hannon was DRUMLINE T 1196, a daughter of Tomschoice Lexicon and Drumline P 1075. T 1196 has an array of five star ratings including a Replacement index of €140 and a Terminal index of €131. She is due to calve in January. She was acquired by a county Clare based purchaser for €3,900.
Lot 19. BALLYKINNCURRA TWILIGHT from John and Sean Moroney was the pick of a Longford based customer for €3,800. Twilight is a two year old daughter of Gstaad and Ballykinncurra Lulu (Loosebeare Fantastic X Nino). She has a Replacement index of €109 and a Terminal index of €157. Twilight is a carrier of the F94L gene and the 204X gene.
Lot 27. Michael McInerney of the Brickhill herd based in Cratloe presented two August 2023 born heifers at the sale, they both found new homes. BRICKHILL UPTOWN GIRL, a daughter of Tomschoice Lexicon and the Ampertaine Foreman dam Brickhill Molly was snapped up for €3,800. Uptown Girl has a Replacement index of €144 and a Terminal index of €162.
Lot 26. Her herd mate BRICKHILL ULTRAVIOLET, is also a daughter of Tomschoice Lexicon. Ultraviolet is a double F94L carrier. She boasts five star ratings in almost every trait, including Replacement index of €162 and Terminal index of €151. Ultraviolet is a grand-daughter of the renowned Brickhill Jade Et. Ultraviolet was one of three heifers to change hands for €3,700.
Lot 6. DRUMLINE T 1202, an April 2022 born in calf heifer presented by James Hannon also sold for €3,700. T 1202 has Goldies Terence, Sympa, Springvalley Harrison and Pacha 08 in her sire stack. This double F94L carrier is due to calf down in late January to Erebos.
Lot 13. From the same yard and selling for the same price of €3,700 was DRUMLINE T 1224. Born in April 2022, T 1224 has Goldies Terence, Sympa, Moneygold Harry Et and Benzene in her sire stack. She is due to calf in mid-February to a Kaprico Eravelle son. T 1224 has two copies of the F94L gene.
Lot 8. The Carrickmore Maximus Et daughter MOOHANE TINA commanded a price of €3,500. This April 2022 born heifer was bred by John Meehan, Newmarket on Fergus. Her dam Moohane Laoise is a daughter of On-Dit. Tina is a carrier of the NT821 and the Q204X genes. She has five star ratings in Terminal index, Dairy Beef, Carcass weight and Carcass conformation. She was purchased by a Galway based farmer.
Lot 9. DRUMLINE T 1206 sold for €3,400 to a Galway based purchaser. T 1206 is a daughter of Drumline Macron and Drumline Farah. She has a Replacement index of €107 and a Terminal index of €110. She is due to calve in January to Shannon Stan (Tomschoice Lexicon X Edakkya).
Lot 14. The Elite Ice Cream Et daughter FAIRHILL TYNE sold for €3,400. Tyne is a carrier of the F94L and the Q204X genes. Born in May 2022, her dam Fairhill Incite has Ampertaine Foreman and Mas Du Clo in her back pedigree. Multi-starred Tyne was one of seven heifers on offer from Anthony Moloney’s Feakle based herd.
Lot 7. FAIRHILL THEA, sold for €3,300. Thea has Goldies Jackpot, Navarin and Elite S148 Et in her lineage. Thea is a double F94L carrier with a 4-star Replacement index of €113 and a 5-star Terminal index of €129. Thea heads to county Galway.
Lot 1. The oldest heifer on offer FAIRHILL TABBIE commanded a selling price of €3,000. Tabbie has Goldies Jackpot, Attirant and Wilodge Fastrac in her pedigree. She came to the ring with five star ratings in Dairy Beef, Carcass weight and Carcass conformation, she has two copies of the F94L gene.
Lot 4. Her herd mate FAIRHILL TECLA commanded the same price of €3,000. Tecla is a daughter of Ampertaine Commander and Fairhill Holt (Milbrook Dartangan Et X Mozart). Tecla has a Replacement index of €114 and a Terminal index of €138, she has a copy of both the F94L and Q204X genes.
Lot 18. Lahinch based Michael and Enda O’Gorman presented LACKAMORE TANYA at the sale. Tanya is a two year old daughter of Ampertaine Commander and Lackamore Legacy (Ronick Hawk X Ballyfin Empire Et). Tanya carries both the F94L and the Q204X genes. She sold for €3,000.
Lot 33. The youngest heifer on offer MOOHANE ULLA sold for €2,900. Ulla was bred by John Meehan. She is a daughter of Claddagh Mccabe (Et) and Moohane Kayla (Gamin X Litron). Thirteen month old Ulla, has one copy of the F94L gene and one copy of the Q204X gene. She boasts five star ratings in many traits including Replacement index of €126.
Lot 32. CREEGPARK UNA, an October 2023 born heifer sold for €2,800. Una has five star ratings in many traits, including Replacement index (€173) and Terminal index (€146). Una was bred by Robert McNevin Jnr, Tubber, Galway. Una is a double carrier of the F94L gene.
Lot 11. DRUMLINE T 1212 also reached a price of €2,800 for her exhibitor James Hannon. T 1212 is a daughter of Drumline Macron and Drumline N 1041 (Doudou. Td X Birchpark Enrico). T 1212 sold in calf to Shannon Stan, she is due in mid-January.
Lot 20. Double F94L carrier MONAFOLA U-QUEEN sold for €2,700. U Queen is a daughter of Pabo Peredur and Gerrygullinane Lolly. U-Queen has five star ratings in Dairy Beef, Carcass weight and Carcass Conformation. She was bred by Sean O’Connor.
Lot 12. The Wilodge Cerberus daughter FAIRHILL TOPAZ commanded a price of €2,650. Topaz came to the ring with five star ratings in Dairy Beef, Age at Finish, Carcass Conformation and Daughter Milk. Her dam Fairhill Dale has Ferry and Luttrellstown Harry in her sire stack. She was bred by Anthony Moloney, Feakle.
Lot 3. Three heifers realised €2,400 – FAIRHILL TANSY, a Goldies Jackpot daughter, Lot 21 LACKAMORE UNIQUE, a Bel Orient daughter and Lot 22 GLENCARRIGH UNREAL, a Haltcliffe Gunner daughter.
