It was a landmark weekend for Noel and Ann Brennan and family from the Kilkenny based Whitehall herd as livestock enthusiasts tuned in online for the highly anticipated Whitehall Wonders sale, hosted in partnership with Denis Barrett Auctions and MartEye on Monday evening July 20th.

The Whitehall herd is recognized as one of Ireland’s stand-out pedigree Limousin herds, having bred such household names as 2019 National show champion Whitehall Noelle and 2018 Senior Female Champion Whitehall Iris.

On Saturday, July 18th, the Brennan family opened their doors for a viewing day, allowing interested breeders to see the stock up close. The depth of quality across the lots is a credit to the family’s years of careful, selective breeding, with the docility of the cattle standing out as a highlight.

This sale was the first ever public offering of females from the herd. On offer was a premier selection of elite females, four in calf heifers and the 2024 born heifers, alongside three in calf cows, one of which sold with her very promising January born bull calf at foot.

With 114 active bidders, demand remained high throughout the sale. Successful bidders included 17 buyers across 11 counties and two from Northern Ireland, all adding elite Whitehall genetics to their herds. By the time bidding closed on Monday evening, buyers had secured 20 lots, achieving a phenomenal sale average of €8,380 and reaching a top price of €17,800.

Highlights ladies commanding five figure returns

Lot 11. Stealing the spotlight as the sale topper was the outstanding Graiggoch Rambo daughter WHITEHALL VIENNA ET this outstanding heifer was secured by a Northern Ireland breeder. Just under two years old, Vienna is sired by the 180,000gns Graiggoch Rambo and out of the Sympa daughter Whitehall Revi. Vienna, will turn two years old in August, she carries a copy of both the F94L and Q204X genes.

Lot 14. Fetching the second-highest price of the day was WHITEHALL VELVET ET, she sold for €15,200. Velvet is an August 2024-born Wilodge Vantastic daughter out of Ardlea Grisilda, making her a full sister to the 2019 National Show champion, Whitehall Noelle. Velvet is a double F94L carrier. She heads to a new home with a breeder in Co. Donegal.

Lot 9. The Nebbiolo daughter WHITEHALL VENUS secured a selling price of €12,400. Venus is a double F94L carrier. Her dam Whitehall Nancy is regarded as one of the best cows at Whitehall, she is a daughter of Kaprico Eravelle with back breeding to Ampertaine Elgin.

Lot 20. WHITEHALL VINYL ET, a daughter of Sympa and Elite Gisele Et sold for €10,600. Gisele is also the dam of Ardlea Rigby Et, standing in Progressive Genetics. This September 2024 born heifer is a double F94L carrier.

Lot 5 and 5A. Representing the ultimate 3-in-1 package deal, Lot 5 included a cow, her calf at foot, and already back in-calf was WHITEHALL RUBY & WHITEHALL BOBBY sold for €10,400. Whitehall Ruby is a daughter of Bavardage out of the Haltcliffe Dancer dam Whitehall Imogen Et. Imogen is also dam of Whitehall Larry, senior stock bull to Pabo herd, he has produced sons that have sold to 23,000 gns in Carlisle. Imogen is also a maternal sister to National show champion 2029 Whitehall Noelle and Lot 14 at this sale Whitehall Velvet Et. Ruby’s January 2026 born son, WHITEHALL BOBBY, is a son of Lisna Some Bull. Ruby is due to calf in January to Tomschoice Scorpion. This smashing outfit was acquired by the same buyer as the sale topper Vienna.

Lot 19. WHITEHALL VABRINA ET, is a full sister to the 2018 Senior Female Champion at the National show, Whitehall Iris Et (Haltcliffe Dancer X Whitehall Fabrina Et), a lineage that needs no introductions. Iris’s son Aughalion Prince was the sale topper at the Covid restricted Premier sale in Elphin in 2021, where he sold for €14,000, he is now standing in Elite Pedigree genetics. Iris is also the dam of Ardlea Nemo, Junior champion and top-priced bull at the Premier sale in March 2019. Vabrina is a single Q204X carrier. She commanded a selling price of €8,000.

Lot 10. Selling for €7,600 was WHITEHALL VALERIE, an August 2024 born daughter of Tomschoice Lexicon and Whitehall Sabrina Et (full sister of the aforementioned Whitehall Iris). Valerie is a maiden heifer with two copies of the F94L gene.

Lot 23. Eighteen month old WHITEHALL VIVIENNE found a new home for €7,400. Vivienne is a daughter of Knock Msport and Whitehall Revi (making her a maternal sister to the sale topper Whitehall Vienna Et). Vivienne is a double F94L carrier.

Lot 2. WHITEHALL ULRIKA 2 ET is due to calve down in August to Nebbiolo. Ulrika 2 is a daughter of Hector Gd and Whitehall Missie Et (a Wilodge Vantastic daughter). This double F94L carrier sold for €7,200.

Lot 15. WHITEHALL VANILLA ET, a daughter of Ampertaine Commander and Whitehall Fabrina Et, a half-sister of Whitehall Iris. Vanilla will turn two years old in August. She sold for €7,000.

Lot 16. Also finding a new home at €7,000 was WHITEHALL LEBELLE, an in calf daughter of Sympa and out of Ardlea Ebelle (Tistou X Ideal 23). Lebelle is due to calve down in August to Norman Inventor.

Lot 17. WHITEHALL LIZZY, also commanded a selling price of €7,000. Lizzy is due to calve down in September to Norman Inventor. Lizzy’s back pedigree includes Sympa, Elite Abel Et and Lino.

Lot 1. The first lot on offer was WHITEHALL UTOPIA a daughter of Tweeddale Lennox and the Ideal 23 dam Whitehall Nadia. Utopia calved down an hour before the sale kicked off,  delivering a smashing son of Slieve Pablo. This duo commanded a price of €6,200.
