The North Eastern Limousin Club is looking forward to welcoming breeders from across Ireland to its Extravaganza Weekend at Virginia Show Centre, Co. Cavan, on Saturday 29th August 2026. The event will showcase the very best of the breed through a Herd Competition, Live Heifer Sale, YMA event and the exciting €10,000 Mega Moo Competition.
Herd competition 2026
Prize giving for the 2026 Herd Competition will be held on the evening of our Extravaganza event in the Virginia show centre.
MegaMoo
The club will run a MegaMoo competition as part of our extravaganza.
Commercial
This year we are opening the MegaMoo up to Limousin sired X bred heifers from outside our club area – from all over Ireland!
As well as pedigree heifers from within our club area.
5 Limousin X heifers will be selected from a Megamoo qualifying class held at Virginia show on the 19th of August.
Entries direct to Virginia show.
Heifer must be Limousin sired, LMX on her card and under 400 kgs on the show day.
The 5 heifers selected will all receive €300 each prize money.
These 5 heifers also gain access to our sale on Extravaganza Day and our Megamoo competition.
Pedigree
All of our pedigree sale heifers will also be entered into the Megamoo competition, to be ran just before our sale starts.
Megamoo – How it works
200 tickets will be made available at €100 each.
On the evening 10 winning tickets will be drawn, 9 prizes of €100 or more and the 1st prize of the pick of our Commercial and Pedigree heifers.
The winner gets his pick of the MegaMoo heifers, and the owner of the heifer gets €10,000.
Heifer sale
As part of our Limousin extravaganza weekend the club will be holding a live pre-inspected pedigree female sale on the night in conjunction with Ballyjamesduff mart.
Heifers born between the 1st of January 2025 and 31/03/26 are eligible for entry.
All heifers will be subject to a strict pre inspection criteria, average quality or below will not gain entry.
All heifers must be halter trained and docile.
The Sale will commence at 7.30pm live in the show centre, with bidding also available via Marteye.
All sale heifers are automatically entered into the MegaMoo Competition prior to the sale and will be in the running for the €10,000 sale prize.
The 5 Limousin X MegaMoo heifers qualified at the Virginia show will also be automatically entered into the sale. (please refer to the MegaMoo competition for more details)
N.B All breeders must be willing to accept the €10,000 MegaMoo winning sales prize for their heifer … this will be a criterion for sale entry.
To be clear if a breeder will not sell their heifer for €10,000 if they win the MegaMoo they cannot enter the sale. This applies to both the pedigree and Xbred heifers.
Entry fee is €100. Maximum entry is 2 heifers pre breeder.

YMA
As part of our Limousin extravaganza event, the club will be holding our YMA finals.
Our club YMA members will compete against each other in 3 disciplines:
- Showing skill
- Stock Judging
- Interview / reasons
Our club YMA team for 2026 will be selected on the day.
2 training days will be held in Ballyjamesduff mart prior to the finals.
