It is with deep shock and great sadness that Irish Limousin breeders have learned of the tragic death of David Thomlinson.
David’s dedication to the livestock industry was renowned. His association with the Limousin breed synonymous. Whatever the occasion, sales, shows or open days, if it concerned Limousin David would be there, more often than not contributing to the success.
Irish breeders who attended Carlisle sales were assured of a warm welcome from David. A charming man, he had time for everyone. His knowledge of both Limousin and the industry was impressive, but it was on the rostrum he truly excelled. He was an icon of the art, enthralling to observe, he combined masterful proficiency with good humour and quick wit. Always fair to vendor and customer alike.
David was a regular visitor to Ireland. He was a respected Limousin judge. As recent as March of last year he judged our Roscrea Premier Bull sale. He did so with his usual competence and flair.
David’s passing without doubt leaves a huge void. But his memory will live long into the future. It was a privilege to have met and known David. For that we are grateful. The members, staff and all associated with the Irish Limousin Cattle Society would like to express our deepest sympathies to Sheila Thomlinson and family at this very difficult time. Likewise our thoughts are with his work colleagues at H&H where he had a long and distinguished career.
May he rest in peace.
