Report 2010:

Our club AGM was held on the 17th February in Springhill Court Hotel in Kilkenny. The following officers were elected:

  • Chairman: Norman Stanley
  • Secretary: Emer Byrne
  • Treasury: Noel Brennan

Over the course of the year we held 3 meetings. At our first meeting our guest speaker was Andrew Cromie from ICBF who gave an informative presentation on BLUPS, Docility and the Suckler Welfare Scheme. Our second meeting was held in June where we had two guest speakers Paul Sykes and John McInerney. There were numerous topics discussed on the night from ICBF, Animal Health and the Society Premier Sales. At our third meeting we held a general discussion.

Our Club calf Championships took place on the 2nd August at Tinahely show . This was a very successful show with a high number of quality Limousin cattle on show which attracted a large crowd at the show ring. I would like to thank all breeders who participated and a special thank you to our Judge Teleri Thomas, and of course our sponsors Morrins – Redmills, Midlands Veterinary Supplies and Ivan Sheppard of Timac Agri Supplies.

I would like to congratulate our winners

  • Heifer born September 2009: Ardlea Esha
  • Bull born September 2009: Brookland Enda
  • Heifer born 2010: Ballinahinch Folly
  • Bull born 2010: Tomriland Fury

We also held our YMA class at Tinahely show we had a great turnout of young members who had to demonstrate their handling skills in the show ring to the Judge Teleri Thomas.

I would like to thank all the young members who took part.

In December we held a Breeding Information night, all AI Companies attended and each gave a presentation on the bulls they have on offer.   This was a very informative and successful night.

Again the South East had a successful year on the Commercial side holding two pre-inspected commercials sales which proved there is a great demand for good quality cattle.
