The North Eastern club held an open day on the farm of Mr Philip and Tom Dunne (Liscarn Limousin herd) Baileboro, Co. Cavan on Saturday the 13th of September.
Ray Carolan (club chairman) welcomed the crowd and urged them to be very strict in there culling policy and to use the very best AI sires available.
A large crowd attended from all over Ireland and they received an excellent tour of the Liscarn herd. Philip explained in detail the different families of cows in the herd and the AI sires he has used over the past 18 years. Some of the progeny on display had six generations of AI sires behind them. From Dauphin to Cerberus, the crowd saw many different bloodlines and types.
Of big interest on the day was Philip’s new stock bull Wilodge Formulaone (Objat x Vantastic) and his progeny. Formulaone is in the top 1 % of the breed for calving and performance traits.
The club would like to thank Philip and his family for a very interesting and informative day.
