Clare Limousin Club Report 2010:
2010 was another successful year for Clare Limousin breeders at shows and sales throughout the country, most recently at the Roscrea Premier Show and Sale in October where nearly half of the cattle exported to the UK were from Clare.
The club held 4 meetings during; the year, all was very well attended.
Our Agm was held on January 2010, the officers elected were:
- Chairman – Michael Sexton
- Secretary – Frances Moroney
- Treasurer – John Joe O’ Sullivan
- PRO – John Shannon.
During this meeting our congratulations were extended to John Mc Inerney on his election as President of the Limousin Society and we also congratulate John Moroney on his re-election to council.
Our second meeting was held in May; at this meeting guest speakers on the night were Paul Sykes for ILCS and Donal O’ Connor for Pedigreecattle.ie both gave interesting and very informative talks.
Our third meeting was held in October; at this meeting the results of the herd’s competition were announced. The winners were as follows

Our fourth meeting was held in December. Austin Finn was guest speaker on the night; he enlightened the breeders on topics such as Genomics and herd accreditation.
The highlight of the summer for Clare Limousins breeders was the South East Clare Show in Bridgetown where our calf finals were held. The National YMA workshop was also held at this show and attracted a large number of spectators. Sincere thanks to Richard O’ Beirne, Rciky Barret, James Wycherly, Michael Mc Inerney, Michael Gunn, Ann-Maire Hourigan and the Bridgetown show society for all their help on the day. Many thanks to the breeders for kindly allowing the YMA to use their calves, also a big thank you to all who participated in the event. The team that went forward to represent Ireland at the Anglo Irish competition Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales were; Sean Moroney (Clare club), Julie O’ Meara (Cork Club) and April Higgins (North West Club).
The Clare Limousin breeders annual dinner dance was held on December 28th in the Bellbridge House Hotel. Music on the night was by Muriel O’ Connor followed by DJ Mick Gardiner. A great night was had by all180 in attendance. A special thank you to all who supported the Clare club on the night.
