Limousin lead the way with new initiative for buyers
Saturday 27th February 2016 sees the start of the Irish Limousin Cattle Society official sales season with the Roscrea Premier Bull sale. The sale has a large entry of 153 bulls with many different bloodlines catering for customers requiring easy calving, short gestation, maternal and terminal traits. While a certain percentage of customers will be governed by the new BDGP scheme and many bulls in the sale will fulfil their requirements equally there are still bulls which will suit the customers who are not in the scheme.
The Limousin Society has seen its members engage in different initiatives over the years which while incurring costs upon themselves have been tailored to ensure customer confidence. The breed were one of the first to bring in mandatory BVD testing followed by Johnes testing. We provide a bull finance scheme which offers buyers the opportunity to spread their purchase over three payments.
This year will see another major first for any breed with a mandatory veterinary check of all bulls presented at Society sales, the check which involves both an external and internal examination. All animals will also be veterinary fertility tested and sold on the day under the FBD Fertility insurance scheme with the premium paid by the seller.
